Inside the Recovery Max: Hemp, Pumpkin, Watermelon and Quinoa

August 28, 2026

What the Recovery Max is built for

After a hard session, most people want three things: some protein, some carbohydrate, and something refreshing. Recovery Max was built around that idea, using seeds that supply plant protein and minerals alongside a fruit of your choice.

It is not a medical or sports-performance product. It is a pleasant, food-first way to refuel.

What each seed brings

Hemp: Hemp is the protein seed of the group: it supplies all nine essential amino acids plus unsaturated fats, magnesium and iron. Its flavour is mild and slightly grassy-nutty, so it blends into fruit and cocoa easily.

Pumpkin: Pumpkin seeds, sometimes called pepitas, are a good plant source of magnesium, zinc and iron, along with protein and healthy fats. These are minerals involved in everyday metabolism, muscle function and normal immune function.

Watermelon: Watermelon seed is an old snack in parts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Ground, it adds plant protein, magnesium, zinc and iron, and it blends invisibly into a shake.

Quinoa: Quinoa is botanically a seed rather than a grain. It is naturally gluten-free and unusual among plant foods for containing all nine essential amino acids, plus fibre, magnesium and iron.

Hemp and quinoa are both complete plant proteins, pumpkin brings magnesium and zinc, and watermelon seed adds more protein and minerals along with a very mild flavour. Quinoa also contributes carbohydrate, which many active people look for after training.

Who it suits

It suits walkers, runners, swimmers, lifters, and weekend athletes. It also suits those with physically demanding jobs who need a decent snack at the end of a shift.

When to drink it

Within a couple of hours of finishing exercise is the usual moment. Many people pair it with a banana or watermelon fruit so the shake supplies carbohydrate as well as protein. On rest days it can also work as a mid-afternoon snack.

Hydration matters just as much as protein after exercise. Have a glass of water alongside the shake, especially after sweaty sessions, and make sure your next full meal includes vegetables and a good source of carbohydrate. The shake works best as a bridge to that meal rather than a substitute for it.

How to customise it

Watermelon fruit makes a refreshing summer version, banana and milk a richer winter one. Coconut water as the liquid is a light, hydrating option. Choose the size to match your activity: Medium for a normal session, Large after long efforts. Every Naturalition shake comes in Small 12 oz, Medium 16 oz or Large 20 oz, with a free choice of liquid, sweetener and one fruit.

Who should check with a doctor first

Check with your doctor first if you have kidney problems, high blood pressure treated with medication affecting potassium or magnesium, or digestive conditions. If you are an athlete tested under anti-doping rules, confirm with your governing body that you are comfortable with any food product you consume.
