What Do Shake Add-Ons Do? A Simple Guide

August 23, 2026

What an add-on is

Every Naturalition seed shake is designed as a balanced recipe, with a free choice of liquid, sweetener and one fruit. An add-on is an optional extra that you can include for $1, letting you adjust the shake without changing the underlying blend. Think of it as a small tweak rather than a new recipe.

Because add-ons are priced individually, they are easy to compare with the base shake. If something you want is not offered, ask the shop or simply choose a different combination of liquid and fruit, which are both free choices.

The idea behind add-ons

People order shakes for different reasons. One person wants more fibre, another more protein, a third just wants a richer flavour. Add-ons are there for those small variations. The options you see depend on the partner shop and the menu in front of you, so read the list when you order rather than assuming a particular item is offered.

How to use them wisely

Start without any add-on the first time you order a blend. That way you learn what the base recipe tastes and feels like. If you want more thickness, more flavour or a bit more of something specific, choose one add-on on the next order, and judge the difference.

Be cautious about stacking several add-ons on seed-heavy shakes, especially blends that are already high in fibre. Too much fibre too quickly can cause bloating or discomfort, and more is not always better. Our advice is to change one thing at a time.

When to skip them

Skip add-ons if you are already trying a new blend, if you are building your seed intake gradually, or if you are giving the shake to a child. Also skip them when a recipe is already thick and filling, such as the Mega 10 Super Shake.

Allergies and health notes

Check what any add-on contains before ordering, especially if you have allergies to nuts, seeds, dairy or soy. If you take medication, have a digestive condition or follow a medical diet, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether the add-on is suitable. Partner shops prepare shakes in their own kitchens, so tell them about allergies and ask how they avoid cross-contact.

Making the most of them

Treat add-ons as seasoning. A small adjustment can make a good shake feel personal, and since they are only $1, it is easy to experiment over several orders and settle on the version you like best.

Keep a small note on your phone listing which combinations you have tried and what you thought. After four or five orders you will have a personal shortlist, and ordering becomes quick and enjoyable rather than a guessing game.
